黑暗但是雄壮或愉快的段落跟能够记忆的旋律一样少，诡异或压抑或恐怖的气氛遍布全专，完全是指环王的水准，在高潮中落幕，画面渐去，字幕未起，一段清唱，几个和弦，I see Fire，看不到火龙的愤怒的火焰，只有被瞬间抛离到天空，感受着传奇般的中土世界。
专辑中的音乐充满了史诗感和神秘感，既有紧张刺激的动作场面配乐，也有宁静优美的旋律，完美地配合了电影的情节发展。此次录音与新西兰交响乐团（NZSO）合作，在威灵顿市立音乐厅进行。
